Artlist and Artgrid Review

One of the most challenging aspects of creating videos is finding the perfect music.

Whether that be for client work or personal projects.

I can't tell you how many hours I've spent searching for just the right track.

This is where Artlist comes in.

Artlist is a subscription-based website that features a library of high-quality royalty-free music and SFX for your videos.

Full disclosure, Artlist has gifted me a subscription to help make this video and I am part of their Affiliate Program, but no money has changed hands and Artlist doesn't have any input on what I say or get to preview the video before it's posted.

With that out the way, let's take a look at what they have to offer.

Now I've used a variety of music licencing platforms in the past for both personal use and client work.

There are 3 main things I want when it comes to a licensing platform:

A large, ever-increasing library of high-quality music

A simple licence that covers Royalty-Free use for every platform, for both personal and client work.

A price that is affordable

Artist hits all of these and more.

Their library currently features over 18,000 songs, and that number grows every day.

Their unlimited licence lets you download as much music as you need for an annual fee and you can use those tracks as much as you want, anywhere, and you have lifetime use!

Their music is also Pre-checked for YouTube, which I've found makes life so much easier. No one wants to deal with copyright claims!

This is all for $16 a month, which is roughly £11.50.

They also offer an unlimited music and SFX licence for $25 dollars a month which is about £17.99. This includes access to their awesome library of sound effects as well!

In the past, I've spent hundreds licencing single songs for a 1-time use.

Being able to download as many songs as I need for a single subscription fee is amazing.

I should point out that if you are interested in giving Artlist a try, you can sign up for a free trial using the link below and if you do purchase an annual subscription using that link, you'll get an extra 2 months free.

So how do you find the perfect track for your video?

Lets take a look at how you can use Artlist to find the exact music you need.

When you first open up the site, you'll see some of the new releases at the top and a selection of staff picks, this is often a good starting point if you have absolutely no idea what you're looking for.

Another great place to start if you're not sure, is the Spotlight tab. Here Artlist features various collections, artists, albums and videos to help point you in the right direction for what you may need.

If you do know what you're looking for, this is where Artlists search feature really shines as you can narrow it down to exactly what you need.

You can start by choosing either a mood, theme, genre or instrument and then narrowing it down even further by choosing vocals or instrumental, tempo and duration.

The more specific you get with your search, the easier it is to find the ideal music for your video.

Once you've found a track you like, you can save it as a favourite or add it to a collection for later.

But one of my favourite features of Artlist is the direct download. If I like a song, all I need to do is click download and I have it. No checkout, no additional licensing forms, I can add it to my project straight away. It's that easy.

This works the same for their sound effects library as well.

You can search for exactly what you need using the search bar, or if you're unsure, you can filter through the various categories they have to offer. Again you can add these to collections or favourites and download them directly as well.

The last thing I want to mention is that Artlist also has their own stock footage licensing website called Artgrid, which features some of the best stock footage I've honestly ever seen.

One of my main problems normally with stock footage is that it often just looks bad and you can tell it's stock.

That's not the case with Artgrid, their library of footage looks incredible.

It's all beautifully shot and I'll just let you see for yourself as my words don't really do it justice.

The Artgrid licence is separate from the Artlist licence but honestly worth the additional subscription fee if you need a lot of high-quality stock footage for your work.

They have 3 annual subscription plans ranging in price from $24.92 dollars a month to $49.92 a month. The plan that's right for you will depend on what you need as they go from HD, to 4k and all the way up to Pro RAW and Log.

All of the plans feature unlimited downloads and lifetime use in perpetuity for both personal or commercial use.

As with Artlist, if you sign up using my link in the description, you'll get an extra 2 months free with your annual subscription.

It's just as easy to search Artgrid for the perfect clip as it is with Artlist for music. They also feature collections and specific filmmakers.

You can really narrow down your search by shot type, framing, camera angle, time of day and speed.

I hope you've found this video useful if you've been considering either Artlist or Argrid, if you have any questions let me know in the comments below.
