How to make a SEAMLESS INSTAGRAM CAROUSEL in Photoshop

In this weeks video, I explain how to make a seamless Instagram carousel in Photoshop and upload it directly from your computer.

In this video, I'm going to show you how to create a seamless Instagram carousel in Photoshop and upload it directly from your computer.

As with my previous video, which can be found here > this is another common technique that is being used by the filmmaking community to showcase work. The carousel is a great tool to use as you can share both stills and video. I've seen people use these for panoramas, tutorials and detail shots. There are so many things you can do with this technique so let's jump into Photoshop and I'll show you how I set it up.

Once you've opened up Photoshop, go ahead and create a new document. You can make carousels square on Instagram but I prefer to use portrait images as they take up more screen real estate. The maximum height for portrait images is 1350 so set that as the height. The width will be dependant on how many images you need for your carousel. If you want the maximum of 10 images you will need to set the width to be 10800.

The next step will be to divide the image into equal sections. To do this, select, view > new guide layout. Make sure to uncheck rows and margins as we just need columns for this. Here I'll put the number of images I want, which in this case is 10. Make sure there is no gutter as well.

Now select the slice tool, this can be found in the drop-down menu of the crop tool by holding down.

Next, select "slices from guides". This will use the guides we previously set up to turn each section into an individual image when we export.

From here you can arrange your image how you would like. For the sake of this example, I'm just going to do a simple panorama, however, you can use this technique to create any kind of seamless image you like.

Once you've got your image set up how you want it, it's time to export.

I'm going to use the save for web funiction.

Make sure quality is set to 100%. I also like to use Bicubic sharper when resizing images for the web and social media.

When you select save, make sure to the "all slices" option at the bottom of the dialogue box.

I went over this in my 3 pannel Instagram video but just in case you missed that. To upload to Instagram directly from your computer, log into Facebook and find the Creator Studio. From here, select the Instagram tab and find the profile you want to upload to. Select create a new post on the left-hand side. You can add all the details you normally would be able to including hashtags, location and the description. When you select all of your images it should recognise them as portrait, however,

make sure you go into the edit photo section and select portrait if it doesn't. Now when you're ready all you need to do is select publish.
